Don't feel bad for your shoes

I read an article recently about the purging of your shoes and it rang so true to me. If you're like me, you have a shoe obsession and can't pass up a good deal. Unfortunately, this leads to an ungodly amount of shoes, most of which you wear a couple of time to soon discover that there was a reason they were on sale in the first place. Although you spent money on them, got them as a gift, or they hold some sentimental feeling to you...don't feel bad for your shoes. If they are too tight, dingy, out of style, or hurt like a mother, there is no sense of keeping them! Clear out your closet pronto tonto!

Same site, new feel

Sorry about the confusion folks, I decided to revamp my site. Same ole' crap, just a different layout. Also, the song now playing is "Heavy in Your Arms" by Florence + the Machine. The song is featured on the Eclipse soundtrack, and is my favorite track by far...so enjoy!!

Flamingo craze

Ever since I could remember, my family has bought flamingo things for my grandma. One day she claimed that she hated them, so we have relentlessly bought her everything flamingo...from garden decor, to plates, art, and clothing. Apparently flamingos are all the rage right now. Who knew my grandma has been in style this whole time? During my trip to Siesta Key, I decided to just start snapping pics of flamingo knick knacks because it just started getting out of control.

Sweet summertime

Summer is officially here! Not that weather would have made us think otherwise...it's been so bloody hot. Last week, I officially started my new nanny job, which is awesome. I am now nannying for Mandie, a beautiful 4 month old girl and Michael, who is 6 years old. I've only been working for them for a week, and I know that I'm going to absolutely love my job.
On Thursday and Friday, Kim and I went to Siesta Key for a fun visit. Unfortunately, it rained the first day we were there, but we were able to walk along the beach before it rained. I found that Siesta Key is very similar to Clearwater Beach, only they don't have large hotels along the water...it's more natural looking. We passed the rainy time at The Daiquiri Deck, a restaurant that has the most crazy concoctions of daiquiris I've ever heard of...highly recommended. We were able to go to the beach on Friday, where we only lasted a couple hours because it was too incredibly hot. Then, we went to St. Armand's Circle and later to Ellenton Mall. We most definitely had a great time!

The soundtrack is here!

I was pleasantly surprised when I was browsing iTunes today. I completely forgot that the Eclipse soundtrack was coming out! I'm a little late, seeing as it came out last week, so I downloaded that bad boy right away. The music definitely does not disappoint. I absolutely love the first 2 soundtracks, though I prefer the softness of the second over the first. This album is right there with the New Moon soundtrack, with awesome alternative rock bands that I know and love. I'm so excited to listen to this and to know the songs during the release of the movie!

June crafts

Before I left work on Friday, I snapped one last picture of my bulletin board. I will admit, I'm going to miss decorating that each week. The last craft we did was make kites in the sky. I gave them fabric, so they cut it to size of a kite. I thought it turned out rather cute. I'm not sure if I updated you on the other things that are going on with this board. In the "grass" are some tissue flowers we made, and also some bugs. In the sky are some butterflies as well.

Another craft I did the other day was a calendar page for June. I was in a purple mood for a few days, so the calendar was as well. I like the cute surfer car on the bottom of it.

Last day at Right Track

Friday was my last day working at Right Track, a before and after school program at the church I grew up in. I was overwhelmed by the amount of hugs the kids gave me and how they didn't want to let go. Seriously, some major death grips on me! I'm going to miss those kids a lot. It was super sweet too, they made a huge banner for me and signed it with a bunch of witty things. And Lisa and Bonnie (my bosses) bought ice cream for sundaes as my goodbye treat for us and the kids. Bonnie also bought me some beautiful roses and an awesome water bottle that I can attach to the stroller once I start my nanny job. I do love a good water bottle! All in all it was a great day, and they will be dearly missed.

3 months sober

I'm very happy to finally be able to say that I have made it 3 months without caffeine or dark soda of any kind! I have had sprite zero, but that's it in the soda category. It's so relieving to not have to map out my day around stopping and getting a diet coke, and to not have headaches all the time because 2 cans didn't satisfy. My head feels better, and my body feels better. It's like a nice cleanse. Highly recommended. I told myself I would make it 3 months, than I could gradually add it back into my diet maybe one can every few days. But, I think I might take it another couple months. Although, I do miss tea. That could be my one exception...hmmm.

Tomorrow marks the last

It's been a long time coming, but tomorrow marks my last day working for Right Track. I'm pretty sure I will leave with a few tears in my eyes. I will definitely be dropping in from time to time to visit some of my favorites. Oh sorry, I'm not supposed to have favorites. My bad. I'm going to miss the humor those kids bring, and infinite talks of Twilight. I'm going to miss my 4th and 5th graders...there's a humor they possess that is just so hard to describe. They don't take themselves too seriously, and just know how to fool around and it's still funny. And they're not at that age yet, where all of their behaviors are annoying (middle schoolers). I will miss them dearly, and thinking of them while I'm holding a beautiful baby and playing with an awesome 6 year old :)

A few of my favorite things

I was just thinking of some very random things that I love. Here's a few.

I love the sound of makeup being tossed around in a makeup bag.
I love replacing something after its been used (like lotion, body wash, etc.).
I love the smell right after it rains, and the smell of freshly cut grass.
I love anything coconut. The smell, the taste, the texture.
I love getting a new magazine, and saving it for the perfect time to read it.
I love chewing on the plastic from the tag on new clothes.
I love jumping into a bed of freshly cleaned sheets.
I love the feeling of having all of my clothes clean and put away.
I love getting new shampoo.
I love the smell of sunscreen, and put it on every morning just because I want to smell like it.
I love burning a CD or making a new playlist, putting it on in the car, and rocking out.
I love dance parties in the front seat with a friend while driving.
I love putting together an awesome outfit and saving it for the perfect event.
I love having a freshly cleaned car, inside and out (happens very rarely).
I love days that are structurally planned out for me. But, also love days that I have absolutely nothing to do.
I love being indoors when it's raining, and just listening to the awesome sounds of the rain and thunder.
I love a freshly stocked fridge.

I love that its June!! And that the weather is beyond fantastic all the time!!
